23-year-old Joseph Steven Barrileaux was arrested Tuesday morning on charges he physically abused his girlfriend’s 11-month-old baby. Around 8 p.m. Monday Moreno Valley Police responded to a call of a “baby not breathing” in the 10,000 block of Arrow Leaf near Prescott. When officers arrived, the infant was breathing again and was taken to a local hospital. There it was learned the child had serious injuries consistent with abuse. Further investigation led police to believe Barrileaux had previously injured the baby when it would not stop crying. He was taken in to custody and charged with child abuse with great bodily injury, and later released on $40,000 bail. The baby – whose gender and current condition were not released - remains hospitalized and will be placed in the care of Child Protective Services.
