A man wanted for shooting and critically injuring a man in Coachella in March was taken into custody Tuesday. Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies say 20-year-old Rene Rivas Castro was arrested about 2 p.m. at the U.S. Border in Calexico. The Coachella man had made arrangements with his attorney to turn himself in. He’s accused of shooting a 22-year-old man twice in the chest on March 27th on Fillmore Street. The victim was hospitalized in critical condition, but survived. Castro is being held without bail at the Indio Jail on attempted murder charges. He was also placed on an immigration hold.
