At a Chamber of Commerce breakfast Wednesday, Desert Hot Springs Mayor Yvonne Parks outlined a $10 million plant to fix the city’s streets, which are full of cracks and potholes. Phase one is scheduled to start in October. Parks says the city faces $50 million in total street repairs, so this is just the beginning. The city plans to revitalize its downtown corridor, budgeting $17 million to buy property for future development and $4 million for improvements to existing infrastructure. Funds for these improvements will come from a $31 million bond approved by the city earlier this year.
